Grave Care
A grave is a place of remembrance and memory.
However, caring for a final resting place can be challenging for family members—whether due to a lack of time, long distance between home and cemetery, or the physical demands of grave maintenance.

What is 'Annual Grave Care'?
A grave care contract is concluded for one year (12 months). This enables the service to start at any time. The 12-month contract will automatically renew for another 12 months unless it is canceled before the end of the term. If desired, custom periods or multi-year grave care contracts can also be arranged—just let me know!
What does 'Care / Cleaning' mean?
In addition to leveling the soil, this also includes tasks such as removing weeds, leaves, and faded plant parts. The service further includes the care and biannual pruning of existing permanent plantings, such as green borders or small trees on the grave (in spring and autumn).
What's 'Watering-Service'?
I will handle the watering for you. Depending on season and weather conditions, the grave's plantings will be watered, up to three times a week in summer.
What are 'seasonal plantings'?
As graves also change with the seasons and flowering plants should be adapted to weather conditions, all grave care packages include three seasonal plantings per year. These vary depending on the package in terms of richness (Basic / Premium / Deluxe), meaning the number of plants and the use of more expensive varieties.
I am happy to provide advice on this as well.
Spring
In spring, nature comes back to life, and the hours of sunlight increase. The winter coverings or arrangements are removed, the grave is cleaned, soil is replenished if needed, and permanent plantings are pruned.
The first planting after winter can then take place. It’s important to choose plants that can withstand occasional night frosts. Depending on the grave care package, the first planting includes vibrant pansies, forget-me-nots, daisies, daffodils, wallflowers or saxifrage.
Planting time: March / April
Summer
For the second planting, the summer planting, a wide variety of plants can be chosen. However, not every plant suits every location. For example, fuchsias and begonias tolerate sunlight better than some other plants. Depending on the grave care package, the planting may include begonias, fuchsias, balsams, mandevillas, sedum, and myrtle.
Plantin time: May / June
Fall
As the days get shorter in autumn, the third planting takes place. Colorful flowers or grasses brighten up the graves. Depending on the grave care package, this may include heather, silverleaf, cyclamen, heuchera, and autumn grasses.
Planting time: September / October
For
All Saints' Day, the grave is prepared. In the 'Premium' and 'Deluxe' packages, a handcrafted, winter-resistant grave arrangement made from local fir branches and natural materials is placed.
How about winter?
As an
additional service, I offer covering the grave with fir twigs.
How can I order additional services?
Whether you would like an initial planting after the burial or a bouquet or a candle for a specific date, just give me a call. Depending on the effort involved, I can also give you an estimate of the costs, which will be added in the annual billing.
What's the 'photo service'?
Upon request, I am happy to take photos and send them to you via email so that you can stay informed about the condition of the grave.
How is billing handled?
Billing is done annually at the end of the grave care year and includes any additional services provided.
If desired, an advance payment can be arranged, or semi-annual billing can be provided.
You can also book grave care for multiple years upon request.
Can I place items on the grave myself?
The grave care contract means that you don’t have to worry about anything. However, you are welcome to add candles, small decorative items, or a bouquet to the grave yourself - ideally in coordination, so that a cohesive appearance is maintained.
The planting, however, should remain under the care of KunstWerkstatt as specified in your agreement. For any special requests regarding plantings, feel free to contact me anytime - we will find a suitable solution!
